Last night Rick and I enjoyed a G&T looking towards Dunster Castle and said “not a bad place to come on holiday to!”
We now are all ready for a change of scene, it been a long lockdown! We must however take small steps into some sort of normality, it will return but we must not rush it.
The lovely weather has made all of us think of past holidays. It seems very strange not to have guests here at half term.We wait to get the go ahead that will allow us to welcome visitors once again to Primrose Hill. With 38 weeks of bookings either cancelled or moved to 2021, we now have just 17 guests booked in till the end of October, but how welcome they will be!
Many of you will just be content with seeing family and friends. Birthdays and anniversaries have come and gone in lockdown. We all long to hug the children who have done so well without the social interaction of friends at school and those who have been in self isolation for months.
We hope the wonderful weather will continue and help get us on the road to recovery, gosh lockdown would have been unbearable in mid winter!
As I say small steps to normality! So we are offering a Small Steps Stay
From July 4 until the end of October, Monday to Friday breaks will be available for £350.00.
Bookings can be taken now with no deposit and pay on arrival. All we ask is that you give us as much notice as possible if you need to cancel. Book on line or call to discuss your options.
Of course weekly Saturday to Saturday bookings are still available.
We will have to do things a bit differently once we open again in order to continue the fight against Covid 19 and to keep guests and ourselves safe and well. To help you plan your break and give you the most up to date information I have created a digital welcome book, just download it to your phone, tablet or laptop. A sort of virtual Meet and Greeter that updates itself in this ever changing world.
Our very best wishes to you all and hope that we get the chance to share our little bit of paradise very soon!
Jo and Rick
All holiday accommodation has now been closed since the start of lockdown on March 23rd.
We all eagerly away Boris Johnson’s announcement on Sunday to see if he allows any let up in the restrictions.
We, of course, all want some sort of normality to return to our lives but we have to all be patient as a increase of cases and deaths is to be avoided at all cost.
When travel is once more freely allowed I think that there will be a rush for “staycations” in the UK. We are all sick of being stuck at home and those in cities must long for wide open spaces.
Many guests have moved their 2020 bookings to 2021, but perhaps some may also rebook for later this year when the position is clearer.
Meanwhile something to look forward to is always a good plan and a holiday at Primrose Hill with its private gardens, wonderful views and clean fresh air to blow away the cobwebs of lockdown ticks all the boxes!!!
Stay safe and keep well
As the UK is now in lock down and so many people will be self isolating for the next 12 weeks this will have an effect on day to day life and of course on any planned holidays.I have already contacted those guests who had holidays booked in April and May and informed them that we will be happy to move the start date by up to 12 months, subject to availability and any difference in tariff.I feel now that we will have to make this same offer to all 2020 bookings. We have no idea how this pandemic will pan out. Of course if you postpone your holiday until next year but then Corona is sent packing , which of course is what the lock down is all about, we will be delighted to welcome you to Primrose Hill later on this year.Rick and I are at the moment still in New Zealand and have no way of getting back to the UK for the foreseeable future..NZ is also in lock down for the next 4 weeks, we are with our son and family so very fortunate. We are only on day 2 of home schooling and it is already proving to be a challenge with kids aged 5, 8 and 10!! Juleen is manning the answer phone so just leave a message for her or email me and we will be happy to help with your booking. Keep safe, keep well, keep sane and hopefully the world will right itself and normality in our lives will resume.Jo
Coronavirus update As the UK has travel restrictions and many people will be self isolating for the next 12 weeks this will have an effect on day to day life and of course on any planned holidays. For any bookings with an arrival date on or before May 30th 2020 we will be happy to move the start date of your booking by up to 12 months, subject to availability and any difference in tariff. The world has gone completely mad and we are all going to feel the effect for many months. Rick and I are at the moment still in New Zealand and the date of our return is currently uncertain. We will keep the situation under review and may well have extend this offer to holidays with a later start date.If however you are still planning on coming on holiday could you confirm this so I can make arrangements for your arrival. At best we will have to self isolate when we eventually get home so a wave from a safe distance will have replace our usual meet and greet!Keep safe, keep well and hopefully the world will right itself and normality in our lives will resume.
A very happy New Year to all our guests. This time last year we were thinking of retiring, but after a great deal of heart searching and with plans A to Z considered (and rejected) it is business as usual for the foreseeable future! Why would we move, we live and work in the most beautiful part of the UK. So with Christmas and New Year guests almost a distant memory our thoughts move rapidly to the 2020 season. At last we have the wifi sorted! Each bungalow now has its own hub and the speed is as good as it can be in rural West Somerset. We have been sprucing up the bungalows both inside and out. All have had the usual winter clean and Rick has been busy with his paintbrush. In Oak the lounge has had a makeover with a new carpet, curtains and sofa and an electric rise and recline chair. In Beech there is a new sofa and two chairs with foot stools. These are easier to move out if a higher chair is needed or to create more space for a wheel chair user.Elm also has a new carpet in the lounge and hall along with sofas and we have replaced the double bed with a new king size one.By the end of January Ash will have a new sofa sis planned but this may have to wait until we get a bit of spring like weather,it will be different is all I am going to say!! The slope up to the front door in Ash Bungalow has been difficult for a couple of guests. I have now made it very clear on the website that this may be a challenge for some guests, but as always a chat with me should, and usually does, make sure that there are no access issues. We can’t please everyone all the time but we do pride ourselves in sorting out any unforeseen problems with a smile and a can do attitude!Felix the cat joined the Primrose Hill team in September. He is doing a great job keeping the mouse population down in Rick’s man cave! We are off to New Zealand mid February and Primrose Hill opens for guests on Thursday 9th April 2020.There is an Easter weekend offer (minimum 3 nights) This can be booked online but you can just give me a call on 01643 821200.The West Somerset Railway Spring Gala is on April 23rd to 26th. Flexible dates are available and again just give me a call if you would like to book for a bird’s eye view of this event. The photos on the website will be updated very soon, but meanwhile I have created collages of the new interiors. There is now a Special Offer/News page on the website. Our very best wishes to you all for 2020. I hope if you have not already booked your holiday for this year we may get to welcome you to Primrose Hill. Rick and I are always happy to share our little bit of paradise.
